Dr. Schroeder joined the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ (USM) nursing faculty in 2016. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health, a Master’s degree in Nursing with a certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree with a concentration in education. Dr. Schroeder’s nursing practice spans a long career working with adult psychiatric patients in acute, ambulatory and community settings with a specialization in adult/geriatric mental health. She has broad experience and progressive achievement in nursing and the healthcare field. Her research and scholarly interests are focused on understanding the development and practice of therapeutic relationships, co-occurring medical and mental illness, and telemental health. In addition to her role as track coordinator for USM’s PMHNP program, she continues to practice as a PMHNP in an Assertive Community Treatment setting. Dr. Schroeder teaches at the graduate level, including courses in Advanced Psychopharmacology, Behavioral and Psychosocial Health of the Family, and Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing I and II.
