Sierra is a proud Mainer with roots in the Biddeford/Saco area and Hiram. A graduate of the Maine School of Science and Mathematics, she went on to attend her father’s alma mater, Wittenberg University, where she graduated summa cum laude with a dual degree in Communication and Theatre, concentrating in directing.

At Wittenberg, Sierra was honored as the university’s 2021 Communication Laureate, recognizing her academic excellence, integrity, commitment to community, and potential to use communication for socially responsible ends. She also made university history as the first student to direct a Mainstage production, choosing Machinal by Sophie Treadwell. Lastly, Sierra went on to revise and publish her thesis in the academic journal, Women’s Studies in Communication, with her advisor, Dr. Sheryl Cunningham. In this article, they coin and define a new term relating to how viewers interact with media.

Sierra’s passion for travel has shaped much of her personal and professional life. After studying abroad in Germany, she was inspired to pursue a Master’s in Digital Marketing Strategy at Trinity College Dublin, which she earned with honors, and spent several years living and working in Ireland. During that time, she traveled to over 20 countries — including Egypt, Australia, and much of Europe — deepening her love for culture, storytelling, and the outdoors.

Professionally, she has led the Social Creative team at a social media agency and worked with clients like Just Eat and Optimum Nutrition. She also acted as producer for the company’s production studio and worked part-time in film and television, with notable credits including three projects with Netflix, one of which allowed her to spend several weeks in Los Angeles.

In early 2025, Sierra returned to Maine to be closer to family and is now based in Old Orchard Beach. On weekends, she volunteers at a local wildlife clinic and spends her free time learning new hobbies, like surfing. Sierra’s so excited to be back home, spending time outside soaking up all the natural beauty Maine has to offer with fresh eyes and a global perspective.
