Before coming to USM, Matthew Emmick worked for 23 years in the labor movement across the U.S.  He started with the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC), where he worked both organizing farmworkers and leading the boycott of Mt. Olive Pickles. He then worked for various divisions of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for fifteen years, where he led campaigns that organized over 1,000 workers. Following that, he spent a number of years as Labor Representative with National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United.  Additionally, he holds a Master of Arts in Social Justice and Community Development from Loyola University Chicago and is proud to serve as the director of the Scontras Center.
