Employer Matching Gifts

Your gift to USM could have twice the impact. Many employers have matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses. Payroll Deductions

Gifts in Kind

We welcome gifts of personal property like books, art, musical instruments, real estate, specialized equipment and more. These and other gifts in kind enrich USM’s holdings and benefit our faculties and departments. Donor-Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is an account offered by a sponsoring organization (often a community foundation) that accepts a donor’s gifts and then makes charitable donations according to the donor’s directions. To make a donation using your donor-advised fund, please make your grant recommendation for your donation to the USM Foundation to your fund administrator. Please remember, donations from your DAF cannot have any benefit to you in return for the DAF gift. You can notify the USM Foundation of your intention to make a donor-advised fund donation by contacting Erin Macey, Executive Director of Development, at erin.macey@maine.edu or 207-780-4408.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts

A tribute gift is a meaningful way to memorialize a loved one, express sympathy, or to honor the impact that a special person has had on your life. Donations are accepted by mail, online, or by phone.

  • Memorial Gifts: Please include the name of the memorialized, along with the name and address of the individual(s) to whom you would like an acknowledgment sent.
  • Honorary Gifts: Those being honored will be notified of your gift unless you choose to remain anonymous. Please include the name and address of the honoree so that we may notify them of your thoughtfulness.

To include donation information in an obituary, please see the sample language below:
