President Jackie Edmondson announced the naming of the new McGoldrick Center for Career & Student Success, honoring longtime USM benefactors Richard (Dick) and Carolyn McGoldrick.
Jackie Crow Shoe, enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and Policy Associate at the University of Southern Maine’s Catherine Cutler Institute, connects with child welfare experts across Indian Country to address the importance of building tribal child welfare programs that are reflective of their community values and culture – reclaiming the narrative from a dominant system to one that reflects Indigenous worldviews and emphasizes responsibilities to children – in the new podcast series “Reclaiming the Child Welfare Narrative” from the Capacity Building Center for Tribes.

Hade graduated from USM the spring of 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Behavioral Sciences degree with a concentration in social work — the first in her family to get a four-year degree. She plans to get her master’s in social work, also from USM.Â
