The 杏吧传媒 Foundation announced that it has received a $25,000 gift from Levesque Law to support the completion of the McGoldrick Center for Career & Student Success on USM鈥檚 Portland campus. The firm, based in Damariscotta, is a founding sponsor of the new Center, which formally opens this coming September.

The McGoldrick Center Sponsorship Program offers employer partners like Levesque Law exceptional visibility, brand recognition, and promotion opportunities in a central location on the USM Portland campus. The firm is sponsoring a meeting room on the Center鈥檚 third floor, which is dedicated to cultivating student leadership opportunities. As a founding sponsor, Levesque Law will enjoy a variety of benefits aimed at amplifying connections between employers and USM students.

鈥淟evesque Law is honored to have the opportunity to partner with USM to enhance the USM experience and impact student success,鈥 said attorney David Levesque.  鈥淲e value commitment to community so investing in Maine鈥檚 future by supporting the University is an easy fit for us.

鈥淭he new McGoldrick Center is where our students will have opportunities to connect with Maine employers like Levesque Law, explore their career options, and hone their leadership skills,鈥 said Ainsley Wallace, President and CEO of the USM Foundation. 鈥淲e are so proud to partner with USM alumnus, David Levesque 鈥93G. David and his wife, Susan Levesque 鈥10G, are also parents of a USM graduate and a USM sophomore, who will be one of the many students benefiting from this transformational new center of engagement, today and in the years to come.鈥

The McGoldrick Center will serve as the Portland campus crossroads, where students, faculty, alumni, and employers can connect and collaborate. The Center鈥檚 second floor will be home to USM鈥檚 expanded Career & Employment Hub, where the employer community intersects with students in the academic community. The third floor of the Center is home to USM鈥檚 Student Government Association, the Diversity Center, Commuter Lounge, Promise Scholar study lounge, and other spaces for student organizations and interaction.

With dining facilities, meeting and conference rooms, student activity rooms, and the expanded Career Hub, the Center is among the most environmentally sustainable buildings on USM鈥檚 transforming Portland campus. It is a three-story, 42,000 square-foot space that is sustainably designed to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Silver certification. It will overlook the new campus quad, named the 鈥淏ean Green,鈥 and sits adjacent to Portland Commons, the first residence hall on USM鈥檚 Portland campus.
