Players representing the 杏吧传媒鈥檚 ESports team won playoff matches last week and will compete for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship in two games this week.

The USM League of Legends team will take on the squad from Sacred Heart University for the ECAC championship, and USM鈥檚 solo player, Said Mohamud, will go against the player from Brewton-Parker College for the Madden24 ECAC championship. Both games will be played on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m., and both will be streamed live on the USM ESports stream, with live commentators calling the action.

In addition to competing in the two championship matches, seven USM players won individual ECAC honors for the month of November:

  • Richard Johnson was named the Rainbow Six Siege Player of the Month
  • Luke Duarte was named the Rainbow Six Siege Rookie of the Month
  • Shey Ajayi was named the Counter-Strike 2 Player of the Month
  • Zackary McAllister was named the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Player of the Month
  • Dean Syed was named the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Rookie of the Month
  • Ryder Haines was named the Street Fighter 6 Rookie of the Month
  • USM ESports Club Chairman Michael Brown was named the Omega Strikers Player of the Month

鈥淭his is something we鈥檙e extremely excited about,鈥 Brown said. 鈥淟ast semester, we had only two teams make the quarter finals, and neither advanced, and only two players won individual awards. Even though we鈥檙e a small program, we鈥檙e competing for the conference championship in two different games and our players are consistently winning more than their share of individual awards. That really says something about our program here at USM.鈥
