We hope your semester is off to an amazing start! We’re thrilled to invite you to the Tourism and Hospitality Student Group Meeting this Friday, September 13th, from 12-1 PM via Zoom. This is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow TAH majors, discover our group鈥檚 goals, and find out how you can get involved鈥攚hether you just want to be part of a fun group (we will do activities and excursions!) or if you want to step into a leadership role and help plan these fun travel-themed events!

You鈥檒l have the chance to network with students across all classes, learn more about the field, and hear about upcoming opportunities within the program, and learn about the Eta Sigma Delta TAH honors society. Joining the group is simple and low-pressure. Just show up! We meet just once a month to brainstorm ideas, set goals, and collaborate, making it easy to participate without adding to your busy schedule.
Being part of the group can also boost your r茅sum茅 and help you gain valuable leadership experience, if that鈥檚 something you鈥檙e aiming for. Whether you’re interested in leading or just want to be part of the community, we鈥檇 love to see you this Friday! And if you can’t make it but still want to be involved, just reach out鈥擨鈥檒l make sure to keep you in the loop about future meetings and opportunities.

“A Taste of Two Worlds” Cookbook
In a notable celebration of culinary heritage and cultural exchange, the recently published cookbook “A Taste of Two Worlds: Stories + Recipes from Greenland and Maine鈥� has achieved global recognition at the Gourmand Awards in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The book is a collaborative effort by students from the 杏吧传媒 Tourism & Hospitality program, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Wabanaki Public Health, Arctic Education Alliance, Inuili Food College in Greenland, and other industry partners. Through a series of curated recipes, the book fosters a deeper understanding of indigenous foodways and underscores the importance of food in cultural preservation and dialogue. Go on a winter adventure in Northern Maine at the University of Maine at Fort Kent!
January 7-12, 2024 (in-person, experiential learning component)
Online learning modules will span January 6-19
Experience ice fishing on one of Maine’s northernmost remote lakes, explore miles of Nordic ski trails and learn the basics of Olympic sport biathlon, dip your spoon into moose stew, learn what it鈥檚 like to run a dog sledding operation, and more – all while earning three credits towards your degree!
